| Function | Subject to appropriation, the Chronic Disease Nutrition and Outcomes Advisory Commission is created to advise the Department on how best to incorporate nutrition as a chronic disease management strategy into State health policy to avoid Medicaid hospitalizations, and how to measure health care outcomes that will likely be required by new federal legislation. |
| Term | Each Commission member shall serve for a term of 3 years and until his or her successor is appointed. Vacancies shall be filled in the same manner as original appointments. |

| Compensation | Members shall serve without compensation, but may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred as a result of their duties as members of the Commission from funds appropriated to the Department for that purpose. |
| Composition |
The Commission shall consist of all of the following members: * One member of the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate and; ; * One member of the Senate appointed by the Minority Leader of the Senate; ; * One member of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and; ; * One member of the House of Representatives appointed by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives; ; Five members appointed by the Governor as follows; (A) One representative of a not-for-profit social service agency that provides clinical nutrition services to individuals with HIV/AIDS and other chronic diseases. ; (B) One representative of a teaching medical hospital that collaborates with community social service providers. ; (C) One representative of a social service agency that provides outreach, counseling, and housing for chronically ill individuals. ; (D) One person who is a licensed physician with expertise in treating individuals with chronic illnesses, including heart disease, hypertension, and HIV/AIDS, among others. ; (E) One representative of a not-for-profit community based agency that provides direct care, supportive services, and education related to chronic illnesses, including heart disease, hypertension, and HIV/AIDS, among others. |
